Our Celebrants
Hey everyone. I am Anne Skelton, I started training to be a celebrant in 2020 during that global pandemic thing. I wrote my dad’s eulogy and straight away knew this was something I would love.
I am a wife, mum, gran, foster carer, previously an English teacher (I still do wee bits of teaching when I have some free time) and I was also a qualified nurse. My family is the centre of my world though and spending time with them is what I love most.
But a close second is conducting ceremonies. I have never loved a ‘job’ as much as I love being a celebrant. Meeting people at their worst when a loved one has passed away, when a new baby or child has arrived or when they are about to commit the rest of their lives to another person, is a great joy. If my words make people feel better, laugh, giggle or cry then I am happy.
I do enjoy a laugh though and that is reflected in my ceremonies. I pride myself in every ceremony being different and being wholly reflected of the people I am speaking about.
I still pinch myself every time I arrive to conduct a ceremony, not quite believing I get to do this for a living.
I’m Gillian Stirling, a Humanist Celebrant. I am passionate about creating unique, personalised ceremonies that celebrate love, life, and connection.
Whether it’s a wedding, vow renewal, or naming ceremony, I’m here to ensure your special moment is filled with meaning, warmth, and authenticity.
With nearly 30 years of experience in the public sector, I’ve been deeply committed to social justice and human rights, which has greatly shaped my approach as a celebrant.
My belief in love, connection, and authenticity fuels everything I do, and I love getting to know each couple I work with.
I find joy in hearing your stories, understanding what brought you together, and collaborating to create a ceremony that truly reflects your journey and values.
Living in East Kilbride with my husband, we enjoy travelling, going to concerts, and taking our campervan on adventures (which sometimes accompanies me on my wedding travels!).
When I’m not working, I’m likely gardening, doing some DIY, practicing Pilates, or singing in my community choir.
Each ceremony I craft is a collaborative process. Whether it’s incorporating your children, special people, or even your fur babies, I ensure every word and gesture resonates with who you are as a couple.
I bring warmth, creativity, and a touch of humour to every ceremony, making sure it’s memorable and meaningful.
From intimate elopements to grand celebrations, I’m here to guide you every step of the way—from our first chat over coffee to the final moments of your special day.
I pride myself on being friendly, passionate, and dedicated to making your ceremony uniquely yours.
So, if you’re looking for a celebrant who brings passion, professionalism, and a personal touch to your ceremony, I’d love to hear from you.
Let’s create a celebration that tells your love story, your way.

😍Naming Ceremonies
It all began back in the summer of 2017!
Having been self-employed for almost 4 years with my own business, ‘I Love Lucy’s Ironing’ and being mama to 4 little children aka ‘The Creeps’ who were at this point aged 7 and under, I needed something soul changing! Our youngest child was born prematurely in 2015 and was very poorly. When I was alone in the hospital, I researched funeral options and learned all about humanism and humanist led celebrant ceremonies. We are very lucky that our son is now a happy wee boy and we count our blessings every day.
A local advertisement in 2017 to train to become a humanist celebrant was the opportunity I had been looking for and well...the rest really is history! I conducted my first ever legal wedding ceremony in March 2018 at Fasque Castle and have loved every single second of being a celebrant.
From the initial ‘Are you free on our date?’ to the couple or family meetings, learning and getting to know my couples and families personally, writing their bespoke ceremonies, keeping them right, being a friend and a confidant right up until the ceremony day is a journey of trust, companionship and love. The couples and families I work with really are my second family.
You’ve got a friend in me...cliché?! Maybe, but never a truer word spoken. Being a celebrant has also allowed me to support, campaign and lobby for charities and causes close to my heart over the last seven years.MHC allows people a platform to speak openly without judgement and I could not be prouder to be a part of such a welcoming and inclusive not for profit organisation. This is Love.

🩷 Love.🩷 It’s the beginning and end of everything. I became a celebrant because I’m a massive fan of love in all its forms. From all the little things we take for granted to the grand gestures and declarations, from song lyrics to poems to love letters - I LOVE it all and I celebrate all love.
I’m a laid-back listener and a passionate storyteller and I would love to share the story of your love! When I’m creating your wedding ceremony, I want you to feel cared for, listened to, looked after and important. I like to create ceremonies that give you the giggles and laughter as well as the romance and all the little touches and nods to the important people, places (and pets) in your lives.
From simple, intimate ceremonies to grand extravagant weddings, on an island beach, at the side of a loch, in your back garden, beside inspiring ancient ruins, in a sweet village hall, in a fairytale castle, or a beautiful hotel – wherever you choose to tie the knot, I’ll happily embrace it.
I love to write, it has been my passion for a lifetime, and I have a lifetime of wandering and living amongst many different cultures and traditions to draw inspiration from. I love poetry and creativity so I’ll happily suggest poems and readings if you would like me too. I’ll set the tone - with you right at the heart of your ceremony. It’s your day, and it should feel very personal and bespoke to you. I’m hugely drawn to the curious and unusual things in life, so if there is something you're passionate about, I’ll be happy to work together to find a way to include it in your ceremony.
I’m a fully qualified and insured Humanist celebrant, I am authorised to legally marry you anywhere in Scotland, and I can guide you through all the legal processes as well. If you would like your ceremony to be conducted in Italian or French, I can do that too.

Hello, I’m Carol!
I am passionate about both Humanism as a philosophy and my role as a celebrant with MHC. Every story is unique and with this in mind I am dedicated to creating heartfelt, personal ceremonies that reflect your vision. With a love for all things creative - writing, music, storytelling, performing - I craft scripts that are meaningful and memorable, and it brings me such joy to get to know my couples and families, ensuring their ceremonies are exactly what they imagined.
When I’m not on celebrant duties I enjoy life with my husband, who’s a videographer, our two wonderful children, and our pug. I absolutely love simple and joyful things - being outdoors, the beach, reading, sunrises and sunsets, writing poetry…I believe everyone should do things that create space for happiness, gratitude and positive energy!
For me, being a celebrant is more than a job - it's an incredible privilege to be part of such a special moment in people’s lives. I am based in Angus and additionally cover Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Fife, Perth and Kinross and Tayside.
When my husband and I were planning our own wedding, we were looking for a ceremony that would capture our personalities and would provide us with the flexibility to be creative. We chose a humanist ceremony, and we were inspired by how unique and personal the experience was, and our guests loved it!
This was the spark that encouraged me to find out more about humanism and I felt a connection to the humanist philosophy, so I trained as a celebrant in 2017.
With a background of working with children and families, I have continued to use my caring nature and creative flare in ensuring that I deliver thoughtful ceremonies. Being a celebrant is the most rewarding role. It is always an honour to be asked to bring families together as we celebrate life’s milestones.
By delivering personalised Humanist ceremonies, I can encourage couples and families to share their right to freedom of thought, speech, and expression.
I take huge pride in my work, and I am humbled to be asked to be the voice, whether it is to welcome new life into the world with a naming ceremony, marrying couples in all kinds of wonderful locations over Scotland, and at celebration of life funerals.
When I am not super busy as a celebrant, I try to embrace life, especially with my own little family, creating memories, and having fun – kitchen discos with a glass of fizz in my hand is a firm favourite!
My favourite motto is, ‘Love the life you live. Live the life you love’ – Bob Marley.
I am based in Dundee and happy to travel to all areas of Tayside, Angus, Perthshire, and Fife to assist you in celebrating your life moments.
Heyo,
I’m Flick. I absolutely love, my role as a celebrant. It sounds corny as, but, I do just love love.
Each person is individual, every couple is different, and each story, is unique. Sometimes it’s stories of big loud elaborate gestures, sometimes it’s explanations of a more quiet, simple, day to day comfort between two people.
Your ceremony should reflect you, as a couple.
My aim, is that, on the day, you are relaxed and in the moment whilst getting married, and most importantly, enjoying it!
Whether it’s a karaoke singing, conga finishing, animal inclusive, dress up (I have worn a wizards outfit once)... a laid back, light-hearted humorous 30 minutes, or anything, in-between. It’s my job to guide you and help you figure out what you will enjoy the most – and I adore it!
I’m here to support you with the legal paperwork, brainstorming ceremony ideas, writing vows (if you're doing them) etc, but also, I am there to give you a support cuddle in the morning of the wedding, or have a laugh over a call when things are getting stressful, or, doing some breathing with you so your shoulders are down and oyur excited to walk up the aisle – all of it. I know how important your wedding day is to you and I genuinely give my everything to each ceremony to make sure it’s what you want it to be on the day.
Hotels, huts, hills, houses... I am happy to travel anywhere in Scotland at any hour you’re getting married. Children, family members, friends and animals – let's get them involved if you, and they want!
Who am I?...I am from Perth, but currently live in Glasgow. My pals would describe me as a cheery, chilled, smiley person. I love laughing, helping people and I love travelling and different cultures. My background is in charity relationship management so I’ve aways had a keen interest in understanding people and have a natural approachableness. I love keeping fit, I love festivals - I am terrible at dancing, but I do it anyway. Pints (Tennents), my mums lasagne, fresh cookies and gala apples are a yes from me.
Always more than happy to have a chat so feel free to ping me a message.
Hey! I'm Alexis; a story-loving, tattoo-clad celebrant who believes life's biggest moments deserve both tears and laughter.
My Celebrant journey started in 2020 when I delivered the funeral for my uncle. After having my kids, I longed to find my purpose. At the time I worked in Financial Services as a Project Manager but just knew that's not what I was put on this earth to do. During my twenties I completed a series of actor training courses and created my own theatre company, so 'performing' in front of people came naturally to me.
After my uncle's funeral I knew being a Celebrant was my calling. The comfort I was able to bring to my family on such a sad day just filled my heart… they all said they didn't know a funeral could be so much fun! I completed my training in 2021, left my job of 17 years to fulfil my dream and have never looked back! Since then, I've helped so many people say goodbye to their loved ones but nowadays weddings are my main focus.
My approach to ceremonies is about finding the perfect balance - bringing the laughs while honouring the emotion, keeping things light-hearted while respecting the significance, and weaving your unique story throughout every moment. I've always been a storyteller, and I love finding the magic in what most couples think is just normal everyday life.
My work as a Project Manager along with my theatre experience ensures every detail of your ceremony is thought about and delivered in the way it should be, from the logistics (like who is sitting where or what you will do with your bouquet) to the content of your ceremony (like music, readings, or symbolic gestures).
If you're looking for a spirited, vibrant Celebrant with tattoos, funky specs and a raucous laugh then I'm yer wummin! Fancy a blether about your big day? Get in touch!
